Opposition to military rule is a criminal offense now and will remain so after the election, so anyone calling for genuine reform is likely to be quickly imprisoned.

[The] constitution [already] guarantees continued military rule … these elections will be about cementing military rule indefinitely … and offer little change to Burma's deplorable human rights situation."
